5SOS also known as 5 Seconds of summer are an Australian pop rock/pop punk band. Started in Sydney in 2011, the band involves of Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, and Ashton Irwin.

In 2011 the group posted videos for themselves and covering songs from various artists. From there, they started to obtain a small following in 2012. After posting a series of 5 Seconds of Summer Amnesia cover styles of standard songs onto VEVO, YouTube, then rose to universal fame.

In the media this group referred as a band of boy. All album of this group always get the top charts rank in Ireland, Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. Their debut studio album was released in June 2014. This one also gained popularity among the youth.

Origin and debut

5 Seconds of Summer Amnesia Cover began in December 2012 when Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings and Calum Hood, who all joined Norwest Christian College, started posting videos of themselves performing covers of popular songs together on VEVO’ YouTube channel. Hemmings’ first video, a cover of Mike Posner’s “Please Don’t Go”, was posted on 3 February 2011. Their cover of Chris Brown’s “Next to You” received over 600,000 hits. In December 2011, they were joined by drum player Ashton Irwin, and the 4 man line up was formed.

The band drew some interest from publishers and major music labels, and have signed a broadcasting deal with Sony ATV Music Publishing. Despite having had no promotion apart from on Twitter and Facebook, their first music release, an EP entitled Unplugged, got number 3 on the Tunes chart in Australian chartbuster, and the Top 20 in both Sweden and New Zealand.

Their international following increased significantly once again when their Direction member posted the link of their Amnesia album in YouTube. 5 Seconds of summer were again the subject of interest for One Direction following publicize of their song, “Don’t wanna be an American idiot”, on June 2014, this time with Niall Horan twittering the link to the video clip.

5 Seconds of summer Amnesia Cover spent the second half of 2014 writing and developing their sound single Joel Chapman and Luke Hemmings, with whom they wrote 2 of the songs that mark on the Someplace of New EP: “She looks so perfect” and “Don’t Stop”. The EP was also co-produced by Feldmann.

5 Seconds of summer released their first single “Out of My Limit” on 19 November 2012, the video clip for the song getting over 100,000 views within the first 24 hours. In December 2012, the boys get on a writing trip to London, where they have written with different artists including McFly, Nick Hodgson of Kaiser Chiefs, Roy Stride, James Bourne of Busted , Jamie Scott and Jake Gosling, Robson.
